In order to obtain the final clearance certificate for an Estate at the Quebec level, I am completing the form MR-14A.  In the section 5.1 value of property, I have shown the amount of all assets listed in the opening inventory at date of death less the income taxes paid and the funeral cost. In the section 6.1 post death income, I indicated the income and the income taxes paid to arrive at the total post death income to distribute to agree to amounts presented on TP-646.

I need to know where to show the expenses paid such as accounting fees, liquidator fees, professional fees and administration fees paid since these reduced the net distributable of the Estate capital ?

    Hi Sylvie

I reached out to one of our committee members.  We were provided the following advice:

Q: Where should expenses such as accounting fees, liquidator fees, professional fees, and administration fees be reported on the MR-14.A.

A: There is no line for expenses on the form. To complete the Mr-14A the amounts in section 5.1 - value of property and section 6.1 - Post-death income should agree to the TP-646 net amounts after such expenses were deducted. The preparer should use net amounts rather than gross amounts and include a memo explaining the breakdown i.e. accounting fees, liquidator fees, professional fees, and administration fees.
